2007 Classes and Workshops at SAC

Figure Drawing Classes

Instructor:  Elizabeth Scholder, artist, Handley High School art teacher, LFCC adjunct professor

Duration:  8 weeks, Thursdays, beginning March 6-April 8.

Time:  6-8 pm

Fee:  $100

Materials:  students will need to bring their own 16 x 20" newsprint paper, charcoal and conte crayons.

Eligibility: 18 or over, or recommendation fromn high school art teacher

Description:  Students will strengthen their sense of proportion, and acute observation of the figure.  they will learn how to use lighting to increase a sense of three-dimensionality of figurative works.  This is a great opportunity to work with an experienced artist to develop a college portfolio, or merely improve one's drawing skills with people.

Drawing from live models, every evening will begin with warm up drawings of gesture and contour style.  Each evening there will be 3 twenty-minte poses, or two longer ones.  There will be a fiftenn minute break for the students and the model at the middle of the class.  the same models may be repeated from class to class, but there will be a variety of different models.

To participate, contact Elizabeth Scholder at 540-551-2487 or elizrose59@gmail.com
