Call for Art – Members Show, Barns of Rose Hill, July 5-23, 2022

Deadline for submissions is June 15, 2022.

Entry Requirements

  • Current ShenArts membership.
  • Up to three entries per member; one guaranteed acceptance; $35 entry fee.
  • All artworks must be display ready; wall pieces must have hanging wire (prefer D-ring hangers).
  • No work can be larger than 4’ x 4’, work must be movable by the artist, sculpture must include a base or stand, and no liquids, live plants or animals are allowed.
  • Works not previously exhibited at the Barns or the MSV.
  • Accepted artwork must remain on display through July 23, 2022, 3:00 pm.
  • The Barns of Rose Hill receives a 30% commission on all sales.

Artists deliver artworks to the Barns of Rose Hill on Saturday July 2, 1:00-3:00 pm
Opening Reception: Friday, July 8, 6-8 pm  

Closing Reception: Saturday, July 23, 1-3 pm 
Artists take art home with them following the closing reception at 3:00 pm

    The Shenandoah Arts Council accepts the Artworks for the proposed exhibition during the specified dates and agrees with the Artist/Agent to the below Terms and Conditions.
  • 1. All works must remain on display at the Barns of Rose Hill for the duration of time specified in this agreement.

    2. No additional security measures will be provided at the Barns of Rose Hill beyond locked doors and windows during closed hours, security cameras, and routine patrol by trained security personnel.

    3. LIABILITY: Neither the Barns of Rose Hill nor ShenArts will insure the Artworks or be liable for any damages, destruction, theft, or other harm that may occur while on display.

    4. The artist is responsible for the timely delivery and pick-up of the Artworks.

    5. ShenArts and the Barns of Rose Hill retain final approval regarding content, design, and layout of the Artworks and any accompanying interpretive text.

    6. Installation will be performed by the exhibition team from ShenArts.

    7. ShenArts and the Barns of Rose Hill will promote the exhibition and sales through media contacts and the Council’s social media accounts and website.

    8. ShenArts will provide the artist’s contact information to persons interested in work.

    9. Any work sold during the exhibition will be delivered to the purchaser upon the closing of the show.

    10. TERMS OF SALE: The Barns of Rose Hill collects a commission of 30% of the retail price of the artwork. Payment to the artist shall be made within 30 days of the show’s closing.

    11. Images of the Artwork, as well as virtual exhibition videos containing the Artwork, may remain on the ShenArts website in perpetuity as an archive of the exhibition.

  • Artist will not submit art previously exhibited at the Barns of Rose Hill or the MSV. Art may be listed for sale during the exhibition if the entrant desires. Standard Barns of Rose Hill commission rate of 30% applies. • All unsold art shall be retrieved by the artist (or a proxy assigned in writing) at the close of the exhibition. The Barns of Rose Hill and ShenArts will not be responsible for storing work once the show has been dismantled.

  • 1. Deliver work framed and ready for hanging, or provide display support for 3-D works. All framed work must have hook eyes and wire, D-rings or similar hardware. Neither saw tooth hangers nor wet paint will be permitted. Frames, mats and glass should be clean and presented in a professional manner.

    2. Provide an additional artist statement/bio upon request.

    3. Artist agrees to deliver selected piece/s to the Barns of Rose Hill on the required dates and times and to pick up same as scheduled by ShenArts and the Barns of Rose Hill.

    4. Artist will pick up any unsold work promptly upon close of the exhibition.

    5. Artist grants ShenArts and the Barnsvof Rose Hill non-exclusive rights to the copyrighted materials submitted to be used in digital and print promotion of the exhibition.

    By signing below, the artist/agent certifies and agrees that:

    1) They have lawful authority to manage, display, distribute, and sell the Artworks submitted, the Artworks are original and authentic.

    2) No license or other right has been granted to any person or organization that would limit or restrict the public display of the Artworks by ShenArts.
