La Madonna di Gisbenti
Nancy Polo, acrylic on wood panel 16”x20”
My stepsister and her son “modeled” for this painting in candid moment. Children have a pure candor in their eyes. They can pierce you with sincere curiosity. They know no boundaries and accept everything as new and marvelous. Holding that kind of light in your arms is rare and beautiful. Although I was raised as a Catholic, I did not understand the need to capture this unconditional emotion in painting until I was a mother myself.
