January 20 – sponsor/artist submissions deadline
January 31– artists notified of selection
February 7 or 9 – 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. take original artwork to photographer, Lauri Bridgeforth
February – March – banner production begins
April 8/9 – Original art delivered to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley 3:00-5:00 pm (or Laurel Ridge Community College April 15 2:00 – 4:00 pm) at designated times only
April 18 – July 16 – View original art at the Art in the Halls at MSV; some artworks will be displayed at Laurel Ridge Community College in Middletown as the MSV cannot accommodate all.
April 23 – Reception & artist/sponsor mixer at the MSV, 2:00 – 4:00 pm (Laurel Ridge reception/mixer April 22, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.)
May – banner production completed, brochure production begins
May 30-June 2 – banners installed
June 12 – Noon – Chamber Ribbon Cutting in front of Civil War Museum on Walking Mall; Banner reveal event/press conference photo opp; Art on the Mall/meet the ArtScape artists,
July 15 – 3:00 – 5:00 pm, pick up original artwork at Laurel Ridge Community College
July 16 – 3:00 – 5:00 pm, pick up original artwork at the MSV
July/August – brochures available to sponsors and artists and downtown distribution

ArtScape is a public art program open to artists of all ages that is meant to represent all walks of life and all brands and levels of talent; a group of work with diverse themes to create a shared experience of art by an entire community. ArtScape is not a contest of who is the “best.”
Submission Guidelines
- Artists may submit up to 3 pieces of their own personal work for consideration. Posthumous submissions are not allowed.
- Please do not submit artwork that has previously exhibited at the MSV or the Member’s Show at the Barns.
- Artists of any age and level of expertise may apply.
- Artists do not have to be a resident of Winchester, but should reside within the geographic region served by ShenArts.
- Artwork must be delivered ready to hang.
- Each piece must have hanging hardware on the back. D-rings strongly preferred. (Please, no sawtooth hangers.)
- Artwork not vertically oriented or not easily meeting the dimensions of banner design (square) will have bars of color added surrounding the image where necessary by the designer to fit the allotted space.
- Artwork imagery must be appropriate for a public community space.
- Artwork must be ORIGINAL. Images that have a copyright will not be accepted, i.e. cartoon or Anime characters, images published in magazines or newspapers, etc. Please no images depicting things that hold trademarks or copyrights.
- Although all care will be taken to protect your artwork, ShenArts, the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and Laurel Ridge Community College will not be responsible for any damage or breakage.
