Congratulations to the following Veterans for their acceptance into our annual Veteran’s exhibition.
Al Latorre – E5, U.S. Navy – I paint in oils on canvas, my art represents my past, present, and merely subjects that I am drawn to such as, landscapes, seascapes of Virginia and other places I have resided or visited.Seven years of displaying art at various venues throughout Va.
Ann Hirschy – E4 Sergeant, U.S. Air Force – Gourds offer a unique medium whether it be in the shaping of the gourds as they grow or in carving/cutting/painting/staining them after a year-long drying process.
Carole Miernik – Staff Sergeant, US Air Force – I started painting when I was four. I have enjoyed growing and learning new mediums and techniques. I look forward to learning even more. I have entered several shows and competitions over the past 6 years and have earned several awards.
Charles Pitcock – Airman 1st Class, U.S. Air Force – Served in the US Air Force for 4 years; Strategic Air Command. I have been painting since 1956. Completing paintings, including illustrations while in the Air Force. As a Winchester City Police Officer, I did composite drawings for the department.
Don Johnson – Sergeant, U.S. Army – I served in the US Army as a combat medic for 8 years. Deployed to Iraq 07-09 with the fabled 86th Combat Support Hospital of Fort Campbell Kentucky. I love art and creating things out of what most see as junk. This is a joy I share with my kids.
Heather Williams – Lieutenant, U.S. Navy – I am a 9-year Military Veteran (Navy) transitioned to civilian military career. I like to use art to express my creative side since my daily work life is very structured. I create my art out of a shared studio space in Round Hill, Virginia.
Joe Winslow – Major, U.S. Marine Corps. – I am a practicing artist and Marine Corps veteran. I specialize in bas-relief sculptural compositions which highlight the uniquely American values which make our country great.
Kasse Andrews-Weller – O6, U.S. Air Force – My art reflects my thoughts and creativity of the day and sharing, visually, with others.
Lisa Shaffer – HM2, U.S. Navy – I am retired and enjoy all types of art.
Michael Chapman – Petty Officer 3rd Class, U.S. Navy – I am a US Navy veteran, 1995-1999, who has always loved the arts and studied art history while at college. I am a big fan of comic books and pop culture and often incorporate elements from both into my work.
Otis Stanley – E4, U.S. Air Force – I create work in monochromatic colors of ordinary scenes seldom seen. My hope is to unite the viewers by common themes and invite conversation.
Ralph Board – E3, U.S. Army – I am a U.S. Veteran.
Richard Decker – E5 Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps. – I am a Marine Corps veteran who discovered woodworking as I began to retire from a career as a software engineer. All wood used in my projects come from our property and are either storm fall or standing dead trees. The finishes I use are food safe.
Stephanie Arndt – Major, U.S. Marine Corps. – I began acrylic pour painting as a form of stress relief last year. I like using colors that remind me of my service. I use the leftover paint skin to make custom jewelry. This extends my joy by transforming the original effort into something new.
Tim Blankenship – MSGT., U.S. Air Force & WVANG – I am retired from the West Virginia Air National Guard. I started painting in 2010. I primarily like working with oil paint and doing landscapes. I would like to expand out and do military themed paintings.
Timothy Crisman – A1C, U.S. Air Force – I am a self-taught artist who works primarily in oil and acrylic. I started with landscapes in 1995 and soon moved towards portraiture. I am a member of the Portrait Society of America.
Warren Snow – Lt. Col. – U.S. Air Force – I’ve been making furniture for the past 22 years from my shop in Marshall, Virginia.
