Position Title: Arts Administration Assistant

Organization: ShenArts

Reports To: Executive Director

Position Type: Part-Time​​​​

 

Overview

ShenArts seeks an Arts Administration Assistant to keep the daily operations of our nonprofit arts council running smoothly. This role supports staff, board members, and artists by managing communication, maintaining records, and providing general administrative help for exhibits, events, and programs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the organization—answering emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries

  • Maintain accurate records of memberships, artist information, and program participationUpdating and maintaining website content, including posting events, news, and artist information, to ensure accurate and engaging online communication.

  • Help prepare marketing materials, email newsletters, and social media updates

  • Coordinate logistics for exhibits, events, and workshops (artist intake, signage, labels, setup support, etc.)

  • Maintain organized digital and paper files for contracts, grants, and correspondence

  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Executive Director and Board

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with common office software, cloud-based systems, and online communication tools.

  • Comfortable learning new platforms and managing data in digital environments.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

  • Familiarity with arts administration, nonprofit management, or event coordination preferred

  • Friendly, professional demeanor and appreciation for the arts community

Hours and Compensation

  • 15-20 hours per week

  • $20 per hour

  • Evening or weekend work may be required for events
