Waste Not Pillow Workshop

with Anjuli Boston

Saturday July 25

9 am - 12 pm

Create a one-of-a-kind throw pillow while giving new life to materials that might otherwise end up in the landfill. In this hands-on class, participants will design and sew a custom pillow using salvaged upholstery fabric samples, then make their own eco-friendly pillow stuffing from clean recycled textiles and soft household remnants. Learn creative ways to repurpose discarded materials into beautiful, functional home décor that reflects your personal style. No sewing experience required—just come ready to create, reuse, and rethink waste in a whole new way.

What to bring:

Scissors (fabric scissors would be ideal)

Old clothing that are too stained or damaged to donate, old clean socks that don't have a pair or have holes in them, old throw pillows that need a second life

Included in Class:

2 square or rectangular pieces of fabric of your choosing

Meet Your Instructor: Anjuli Boston

I am a mixed-media artist from Venezuela, born into a German family. For over 20 years, I have been creating across scales and disciplines—from jewelry, textile works, to hangable art pieces. In an age of consumerism and excessive waste, my practice feels like a quiet rebellion: repurposing what many consider rubbish into something meaningful.

My work is guided by the Japanese philosophy of mottainai—a deep respect for resources and a resistance to needless waste. I seek the meeting point of creativity and purpose, where materials carry both history and potential. More than unique objects, each piece becomes a mission to spark awareness around overconsumption and inspire mindful change. Every creation is one of a kind, holding its own story while celebrating individuality and possibility. Here, nothing is wasted. Everything is reimagined.
