Beginner Crochet

with CM Smelser

Learn the basics of crochet and put them to work in a versatile staple: granny squares!

 

In this class, participants will learn the basic stitches used in classic granny squares, how to read a crochet chart, and how to seam their granny squares together using single crochet. By the end of class, they should have a small bag made with two multi-colored granny squares.

​Students will bring:

 

- medium (4) weight yarn (at least 2  different colors)

- 5 mm (US H/8) crochet hook

- tapestry/yarn needle

- scissors

- stitch markers

Meet Your Instructor:

CM Smelser

CM Smelser (they/he) is a lifelong arts and crafts enthusiast and Frederick County native. They learned to crochet in 2019 and have since designed many of their own patterns, including cardigans, bags, and various amigurumi creatures.
